Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is comprised of high school students that represent all nine school districts in Oswego County, including private schools, and home schools.

YAC works closely with the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau to develop programs that will benefit its members and the community.

The council meets one day of each month from September to May to address issues that influence the county. Meetings are at CiTi in Mexico. Students ride the bus from their home school and return before lunch.

In addition to raising money for charitable organizations throughout the county, the council conducts a youth voter registration drive, sponsors speakers for young audiences, creates brochures targeted at youth, and represents young people in Oswego County by advising the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and other Oswego County organizations.
