Co-Directors:

  • Lead a team of 30 staff running a camp program for children ages 8-14
  • Develop team-building, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Organize pre-season camp programs and special events
  • Make a valuable contribution to the betterment of children's lives
Dates of Employment:
11 weeks: May 31 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday-Friday during camp season) 

Qualifications:
Must have Bachelor's degree in recreation, education or related field or be 25 years of age with experience in camps and/or recreation. Supervision and management of camp staff, programs and resources required. Maintain high levels and standards of camper satisfaction, staff morale, safety and security as specified by the Department of Health and the Coordinator of Recreation and Youth Development.

Counselors:

  • Work as a team member to create programs for elementary and middle school-aged children
  • Develop excellent communication and problem solving skill
  • Make a difference in a child's life
Dates of Employment:
8 Weeks: June 20 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday - Friday)

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 17 years of age, with organized camp, recreation or childcare experience.

Waterfront Director:

  • Supervise Lifeguards
  • Work as a team member to create programs for elementary and middle school-aged children
  • Develop excellent communication and problem solving skills

Dates of Employment:
8 Weeks: June 20 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday - Friday)

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 21 years of age, have current WSI certificates and three seasons life guarding experience.

Lifeguard/Counselor:

  • Teach swimming skills
  • Plan and lead water games
  • Work as a team member to create programs for elementary and middle school-aged children
  • Develop excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Make a difference in a child's life
Dates of Employment:
8 Weeks: June 20 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday - Friday)

Ability to lifeguard before camp starts, weekends during camp and after camp ends for rental groups

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 17 years of age, have current lifesaving and CPR certificates and experience in recreation or childcare.

Group Activity Leader:
- Sports 
- Arts & Crafts
- Nature
- Adventure

  • Plan and lead a specific activity area (i.e. arts/crafts, nature, sports)
  • Supervise staff
  • Work as a team member to create programs for elementary and middle school-aged children

8 Weeks: June 20 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday - Friday)

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 17 years of age, with organized camp, recreation or childcare experience. Skills and activity planning a must.

Cook/Night Kitchen Supervisor:

  • Assist in daily operation of the kitchen
  • Cook lunch and dinner daily
  • Insure sanitary conditions daily by supervising lunch and dinner cleanup until work has been satisfactorily completed
  • Assume supervisory duties in the absence of the Kitchen Manager- clsoely monitoring work of kitchen helpers.
  • Assist in preparation of all kitchen inspections
Dates of Employment:
9 Weeks: June 13 - August 13 (Monday-Friday)

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 18 years of age, have at least one year of training or experience in professional kitchen work. Experience supervising teenagers or working with children is desired.

Senior Kitchen Helper/Counselor:

  • Performing basic kitchen and clean up duties
  • Helping to prepare meals for the campers and staff
  • Serving meals to campers and staff
  • Be a positive role model for children between the ages of 8 and 14 years old
  • Provide cabin supervision, assuring the campers are safe and working as a team, and that the cabin is clean
  • When not in the kitchen, participate in group activities in program areas

Dates of Employment:
8 Weeks: June 20 - August 13 (requires residency Sunday - Friday)

Qualifications:
*Must be at least 17 years of age with kitchen work and childcare experience.

Kitchen Helper/Counselor:

  • Performing basic kitchen and clean up duties

Camp Nurse:

Salary Range:
Daytime Nurse- $25/hour (RN), $20/hour (LPN, EMT)
Evening Nurse- $30/hour

Dates of Employment:
June 20 - August 13

Qualifications:
*Must be a Certified or Licensed Physician, Physician Assistant (PA), Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with experience in Nursing and First Aid. 


Office Manager:

  • Answer telephones in Camp Hollis Office. Give out information relevant to Camp Hollis programs, take messages, and transfer calls as appropraite
  • Handle paperwork from the camper application process. Work may include sorting applications, reviewing applications for omissions/errors, contacting families regarding these omissions/errors
  • File and organize various inventories at Camp Hollis Office
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Recreation and Youth Development

Dates of Employment:
14 Weeks: May 16 - August 20 (Monday-Friday, and Sunday Check-In)

Qualifications:
*High school diploma or equivalent
*Experience and/or training on computer keyboard
*Previous work as a Camp Hollis staff person preferred


Night Security Guard:

  • Insure safety of campers, staff, and the camp facility each night
  •  Make rounds of the buildings and grounds throughout the night
  • Notify the Oswego County Sheriff's Department and the Residential Camp Director in case of an emergency
  • Enforce staff rules, curfew, and acceptable behavior while Residential Director is sleeping or off camp grounds.

June 20 - August 13

HOURS: 10:00pm-5:00am (Sunday evening- Thursday evening)

Qualifications:
*Experience in security preferred
*Emotional maturity and stability


Weekend Camp Host/Hostess:

Dates of Employment:
May - October

Qualifications:
*Experience in customer service and rental group management. Willing to work days and overnights when groups are at camp. Security guarding experience preferred.
